Hog Roast Smethwich Kicked This Family’s Bank Holiday Up A Gear

The Summer Bank Holiday was the perfect way for us to wrap up the month of August, and we spent the entire afternoon catering for a family garden party hosted by Mick and his wife, Eleanor.

The lovely couple, who were new to using our services, had reached out to Hog Roast Smethwich a few weeks before the event took place and asked if we would be available to serve our Gourmet BBQ menu for them and their 30 guests. Our catering manager, Russ, was immediately on the case, and after asking all the right questions, he was able to tailor the menu to suit the exact needs of the clients who, in addition to the meat options, also required a vegan alternative for two of their guests. And, as an added treat, they picked out one of our tasty desserts for after the meal.

Fortunately, the special day came around soon enough, and before anyone knew it, they were all lining up to stuff their faces with our expertly grilled, free-range meat dishes, which included our chef’s own secret recipe gourmet sausages, juicy chicken kebabs, BBQ meaty marinated spareribs and 100% British beef handmade burger patties served in a mix of gluten-free and wholemeal rolls with sides of Greek salad, freshly made ‘slaw and mixed salt and vinegar seasoned sweet potato and regular fries. The meat-free option chosen for this occasion was none other than our hickory-steeped pulled jackfruit rolls with a delicious vegan coleslaw to finish.

The guests relished every morsel of Hog Roast Smethwich’s gorgeous creation and were full of praise when Russ and the team asked how they were enjoying the meal. The icing on the cake that made the day even better was the literal cake: our beautifully presented handmade individual cheesecakes, which combine a crunchy biscuit base with a smooth, light and utterly refreshing filling, topped off with a drizzle of fresh cream. Yum!
