For more than a thousand years, the Irish have celebrated their culture and heritage by paying tribute to Saint Patrick, A.K.A. the ”Apostle of Ireland”, and as each year passes, this very special day only seems to get bigger and better! For this year’s festivities, Hog Roast Burbage was asked by Connor, the owner of an Irish themed pub to cook and serve one of our tasty menus to a group of 80 people who had pre-bought tickets for the client’s annual event.
Always keen to lend a helping hand, our catering crew were rearing to go and couldn’t wait to get started on preparations for the big day. But first and foremost, Connor had to settle on a menu, and with a limitless selection of bespoke feasts to choose from saying he was spoilt for choice would be an understatement! Eventually, after being given some guidance from our Hog Roast Burbage catering manager, the client finalised his booking for our private party menu 3, which offers a laid-back experience involving one of our gorgeous meat dishes, a veggie and vegan option, plus a collection of side salads and potatoes to complete the main course.
Turning up at the venue bright and early that fine Saturday morning, Hog Roast Burbage unloaded the catering unit and set to work on cooking the meal in the pub’s beer garden, which had been decorated with shamrock garlands and Irish flag bunting ahead of the celebration. As the drool-inducing aromas of succulent, slow-roasted pork began filling the air, the team switched their focus towards the trio of freshly prepared salads, warm new potatoes in herb butter and grilled veggie skewers.
Almost as though the food had acted as a smoke signal, the first of the guests started to arrive, and with most of them opting to wear fancy dress for the occasion, the pub was soon covered in a sea of green outfits broken up by the occasional Guinness hat and a faux ginger beard.
With the meal complete, Hog Roast Burbage began setting out the buffet table with condiments and gluten-free rolls which, allowing the guests to experiment with every mouthful before making their way to the dancefloor for a traditional jig.
