With the whole world seemingly obsessed with taking selfies and snapping everything that moves on their camera phones, it was nice for Hog Roast Kenilworth to meet a group of people who still consider photography to be an art form! We were asked to cater for the end of term party for a local photography class, whose teacher still believes in teaching her students how to do it the old-fashioned way, including how to create their own lighting effects manually before taking the photo, instead of digitally editing it afterwards, and they even have their own dark room to develop their photographs themselves! We were all very excited to see the studio and the photography students were just as excited to sample one of our slow roasted pork sandwiches, with crunchy crackling and our own homemade apple sauce!
We set up in the corner of the classroom, as instructed by course tutor Debbie and gave everyone the chance to marvel at our own fancy equipment! Whilst Hog Roast Kenilworth’s chef and catering assistant got busy with the hog roast, Debbie and her pupils got busy with their special end of term photo board. Each member of the group had been asked to select their own favourite photograph that they had taken during the term and put in on display to inspire Debbie’s next batch of budding photographers! There were some great examples of the students’ work, for poignant portraits to moody landscapes, Debbie had clearly done a brilliant job with her class!
With the photo board completed and proudly displaying all of their hard work, it was time for the hog roast! Our chef had his 15 minutes of fame whilst he was carving the meat, as he was suddenly being photographed from all angles by Debbie’s students! They soon put their cameras down though, when our catering assistant had put the finished putting all of the other ingredients together and soon they were tucking into what they all decided was the best sandwich any of them had ever eaten!
It was a lovely afternoon in a creative environment and Hog Roast Kenilworth really enjoyed meeting some like-minded people, who like us, don’t believe in cutting corners and diligently do everything from scratch to achieve the perfect result!
