Here at Hog Roast Wilmcote we get asked to cater for a lot of weddings and we always enjoy being a part of such joyous occasions. What gives us equal pleasure, is when we get the opportunity to be involved in special occasions to honour married couples who have stood the test of time and are celebrating many years of happiness together. We find that when it comes to catering for milestone wedding anniversaries, we are often approached by the children of the married couple, rather the couple themselves, usually because they have decided they ‘don’t want a fuss’, whereas their kids have decided to completely ignore their protests and make a fuss of them anyway!
This was the case when we were asked by brother and sister Tom and Emma, to cater for a surprise party to celebrate their parents’ 30th wedding anniversary. They had decided that their mum and dad deserved a treat to acknowledge this special occasion and as the siblings had both been lucky enough to sample hog roast cooking previously, they knew their parents would love it.
According to Tom and Emma, their parents were self-confessed foodies, who grew all of their own vegetables and only ever bought locally-sourced meat. As a result of their high standards, they were notoriously fussy when it came to eating out in restaurants, which is why their intrepid offspring came to us. Luckily for them, Hog Roast Wilmcote shares their mantra. We select only the finest ingredients available for all of our dishes and use only the highest quality meat from the local area. Confident that our ingredients would even impress their discerning parents, Tom and Emma selected 2 fresh, vibrant salads from our private party menu to accompany the meaty main event, swore us to secrecy and left the preparations in our capable hands.
Tom and Emma’s parents certainly were surprised on the day, not only by the unexpected presence of all of their loved one in one room together when they thought they were just going for a quiet meal with their son and daughter, but also by the unexpected quality of the food Hog Roast Wilmcote provided. In fact, their parents were so impressed with the food that they may even forgive their kids for disobeying them and organising a surprise anniversary party!
